Prospective buyers thinking about purchasing residential real estate in regional Western Australia are set to receive a technological boost.
Prospective buyers thinking about purchasing residential real estate in regional Western Australia are set to receive a technological boost.
The state government has announced the $106 million Regional Mobile Communications Project (RMCP), which will see 113 towers across the state upgraded to bring property owners into the 21st century.
In addition to improving safety in the rural parts of the state, regional development minister Brendon Grylls said that efficiency will be improved as a result of these investments.
He explained: "The community feedback to the roll-out of RMCP has been overwhelming.
"Everyday benefits are being realised across the entire state. In one instance, a member of the community driving on a Kimberley road that previously had no mobile coverage noticed a road train on fire and was able to contact the emergency services, ensuring the safety of the driver and saving two of the three trailers from being destroyed."
John Day, science and innovation minister, said that the project is on schedule and the majority of feedback has been positive.
He explained that as a result of this investment, the divide in the technological services between the city and regional areas has been cut - much to the benefit of rural locals.
