SPEARHEADED by the Ray White Group, the Journeys webinar will acknowledge the work of women in the real estate industry this International Women’s Day.

This will mark the second Journeys webinar hosted by the leading property group and is open to all women (and men) in real estate. The purpose of Journeys is to focus on some of the incredible women of Ray White who inspire others for personal and professional development. These women will share the stories of their career progression and how they have found success in the industry. The webinar will feature high performing women from across the group, including Ray White Cottesloe | Mosman Park director Jody Fewster (pictured below), Ray White Annerley principal Michele Cresswell and Ray White Bundoora agent Rayni Jerram. The webinar will also feature special guest speaker and behavioural scientist Professor Sharyn Rundle-Thiele from Queensland’s Griffith University.Perth-based, Ray White Cottesloe | Mosman Park director Jody Fewster has made a name for herself in the real estate industry after a successful career founding a Management Consulting firm in Sydney, servicing the senior executives of some of Australia’s largest corporations. She later sold the company to a US NASDAQ listed company and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Ms Fewster is now a Chairman’s Elite selling principal after co-founding Ray White Cottesloe | Mosman Park in August 2018 with business partner Deborah Brady. In 2020/21 she ranked in the top 10 selling female agents for the Ray White Group internationally.

“Starting the business with my business partner Deborah Brady presented many challenges as we are both selling principals so it was tricky juggling the set up and the revenue-raising at the same time.” Ms Fewster said.“We both have a good work ethic and common values which has made decision making easy. We also employed an Operations Manager early on so we could focus on selling.”She credits her success, among other things, to the training she received at Harvard, being consistent and just doing the basics really well.“Creating a database on your first day and keeping it up to date is one of my top tips,” Ms Fewster said.“And an MBA, especially a Harvard MBA which is a case method, teaches you how to analyse businesses and situations which is invaluable in managing and growing a business. Having studied human resource management and marketing has been useful as we grow the business.”Ms Fewster will be joined on the panel by Ray White Annerley principal Michele Cresswell from Brisbane. Ms Cresswell is one of the group’s longest standing property management principals. With nearly 25 years experience in the industry, Michele has gained experience and expertise not easily matched. Also featuring on the panel is Rayni Jerram, sales agent at Ray White Bundoora in Victoria. Ms Jerram is highly regarded in the industry and has a long list of achievements from her more than 15 years in the real estate industry. Starting her career at just 21, Rayni has been recognised both locally and statewide for her success in both sales and property management, all of which she has juggled as a mother of three young boys.Guest speaker Professor Sharyn Rundle-Thiele was trained in marketing and today she works as a behavioural scientist. She has published more than 200 books, book chapters and journal papers and she has taught marketing to more than 100,000 people. Ms Rundle-Thiele was the first female president of the Australia and New Zealand Marketing Academy and today she serves as the Vice-President of the International Social Marketing Association.

Ray White national director of special programs Bianca Denham (pictured above) helped create the Journeys webinar series and said ultimately Ray White wants their leading ladies to inspire other women in the industry to step up to the opportunities around them.

.“Some women feel uncomfortable sharing their stories in what can sometimes be male-dominated workplaces or training sessions,” Ms Denham said.

“It’s important to have a place where women can share their challenges and successes to provide transparency and provide confidence for other women to understand they are not alone.“Ray White are market leaders, driven by dynamic teams of inspiring leaders across Australia and New Zealand. Creating a platform for our female members to shine and continue to excel is essential.”Ms Denham noted Ray White has more female members than male, but they are overwhelmingly represented in administration and property management roles.“While there are amazing career paths in those arenas, we know that there is so much more for women to achieve in our sales business,” she said.“Our number one agent for the Ray White Group for the current financial year, Vivien Yap of Ray White Dalkeith | Claremont was also the first agent to achieve Chairman’s Elite status this financial year. She is a shining example of what our Ray White women are capable of.”The Journeys webinar, hosted by Ray White, is scheduled for International Women’s Day 2022, March 8 at 11:30am.
