Ray White Rural came from the humble beginnings of a group of young, ambitious auctioneers and over the past 20 years has grown into a billion-dollar division.

The rural property division of the Ray White Group was founded in September 1994 and has since grown into a national player in the rural property and livestock industries, boasting over 80 offices throughout the country.

Two of Ray White Rural’s founders remain with the company to this day: chairman Paul White, grandson of company founder Ray White and national performance manager, Bruce Smith.

“Interestingly, the Ray White Group itself was founded in rural Australia, in the tiny Queensland town of Crows Nest. Many of the early recollections of my grandfather, Ray White, involve the auctioning of farm parts and machinery,” Paul White said.

According to Bruce Smith, the secret to success is people.

“Our greatest achievement is our people. We started with just two auctioneers, and now 20 years later we have more than 80 franchisees.”

Ray White Rural has enjoyed a decade of market domination in Queensland, with Victoria and NSW growing steadily.

“Ray White Rural has come of age in that time. We are now viewed as market leaders, and national innovators. We did a lot of work to make our processes iron-clad, so that we give our clients the edge,” Bruce explains.

“Our most recent success was achieving over $1billion in sales in a 12 month period.”

The rural network expanded in 1999, with the introduction of Ray White Livestock.

“The establishment and growth of livestock sales has taken us to another dimension,” Bruce said.

To celebrate the special occasion, Ray White Rural will host the combined Rural and Livestock Conference and awards night this evening at Sheraton on the Park, Sydney.

“It will give us an opportunity to come together as a group to catch up and to hear from some of our network's most successful operators plus some special guest speakers.”

On the agenda is guest speaker Bob Hunter, a former Sr SAS troop and squadron commander who will discuss the real meaning of the motto “who dares wins” and the importance of leadership in tough times.

“It’s been an exciting 20 years, but it’s just the start for us. More exciting is the prospects and the future of Ray White Rural,” Paul White concludes.
