For Ray White Aspley’s Angela Duncan, a casual trip to the local Carseldine markets one Saturday morning has resulted in one of the best community initiatives in the region, securing Angela exclusive sponsorship to the markets.
“I stopped in (to the markets) before my open homes about the second or third week it had opened and ended up running into four different past clients in the one morning. It’s a great setup, awesome atmosphere and the place is packed every week – I instantly knew I wanted to be a part of it and that the traffic would be ten fold anything we see at the school fetes we were doing,” Angela said.
“I approached the coordinators and expressed my interest to hold a stall on site with the "win a Ray White bike" competition. Despite it raining the whole morning on our first weekend, we still had over 40 entries in the competition and gained really positive feedback.”
Such was the success of the market stall that Angela and her PA decided to take it to the next level, meeting again with the coordinators and explaining their desire to have a presence in the community without a pushy real estate image. They wanted to meet people, but also give back by gathering donations for local organisations as well as running promotions and giving away prizes.
“They really embraced the idea and for only $2500 annually, which included some initial start up costs, they gave us exclusive sponsorship – no other real estate agent can set up a stall (though they have tried).
"We now have a regular stall the last Saturday of every month and have also been given permission to brand the market’s food court with umbrellas and wind breakers, which we will set up in the next few weeks. Once those are installed it’s going to look amazing and really help our brand awareness,” Angela said.
And the result?
“Our donations have so far raised $800 for local charities and causes, we have met more than 300 people who have entered our ‘win a bike’ competition and an incredible response on social media and in person – I’m always recognised when I’m out and about,” Angela said.
“We are part of A Little Ray of Giving too, so are about to set up a Christmas tree on site so people can bring their gifts to drop off or even support a local stall by purchasing something on site and we will wrap it for them!”
