With a private beach for a backyard this idyllic three-bedroom home on a 4000 square metre block in North Arm Cove, Port Stephens is a secluded piece of paradise.
Featuring an almost-new 17x5m deck with point blank water and sunset views, the recently refreshed cedar-wood house is set on three separate blocks that have been with the vendor’s family since 1956.
Phil Colvin, describes first coming to the property when he was six years’ old and there was little more than a weekender on it. He says the area is as beautiful now as it was back then.
“We have a family of around six wallabies that come by on a regular basis and we can sit on the veranda and watch the dolphins go by.”
“It’s just stunning. A calm, white sandy private swimming area, wonderful walking around the cove, great fishing, boating and kayaking and so very quiet,” he says, adding that the house is barely visible from the road or the water.
“It’s open enough but has quite a few trees that help keep it cool and private.”
Colvin, whose parents lived here until the early 2000s lives in Armidale with his wife and has been using the property as a holiday escape, although says they don’t get here as often as they’d like with visits to overseas children and other travel taking priority.
“I’m quite nervous that I’ve got to let it go. It’s going to be heart-wrenching. I had a wonderful childhood here. It was just an amazing place to be as a kid.”
“You’re only 15 minutes up the road from the local surf beaches, lovely restaurants and the Myall River and you can be in Nelson Bay in 15 minutes by boat, or take the ferry,” Colvin says.
He adds that the local community is also very friendly and there is a library and various social groups.
Selling agent, Stuart Sinclair from Ray White Tea Gardens says the property is a rare find.
“Owning up to the high tide mark of a private white sandy beach in the Port Stephens area is almost unheard of,” he says.
“It would perfectly suit retirees as well as professionals from Sydney who are after their own piece of paradise as a holiday or weekend escape. It’s only two hours’ drive.”
“I don’t think we’ll have much trouble selling this one.”
The first open house is at 2:30pm, Saturday 14 November.
