A cash injection of $274,000 was announced yesterday (June 14) by Victorian minister for housing Wendy Lovell and member for Prahran Clem Newton-Brown, with the aim of providing additional community support for tenants at every stage of their lives.
Funding includes $24,000 to be spent on elderly visitation programs as part of a social inclusion scheme for older residents, as well as a $150,000 re-vamp of the Prahran Adventure Playground.
Lovell remarked: "Through my other portfolio, as minister for children and early childhood development, I know that a safe, fun, interactive play space can make a big difference, especially for children living in apartments or a high-rise estate."
A further $100,000 has been set aside to support renovations the Prahran Community Hub, as well as a new IT project for the use of Prahran Estate tenants.
Newton-Brown added: ""The upgrade of the existing Community Hub will make a huge difference to tenants wanting to improve their education, training and work prospects."
Mr Newton-Brown, who is also the chair of the Community Liaison Committee for the Horace Petty Estate, said the news would be welcomed by tenants at the Horace Petty Estate.
