Owners of real estate in Melbourne - specifically outer Melbourne - may benefit from an alteration to the Pakenham train line.
The Cardinia Road Railway Station in the Lakeside area will now be serviced by the Pakenham train line, with an additional 13 services during weekdays.
Minister for public transport Terry Mulder said that those who live in the Lakeside area will benefit from this. Mr Mulder added that the former Labor government failed to equip the Cardinia Road station with the ability to handle high traffic volumes - subsequently the station was built in 2012 with just limited services.
He explained: "In the last nine months, we have been busily boosting the power supply on the train network, and with the new electrical substation recently commissioned, we can now stop all Pakenham line trains at Cardinia Road."
The minister continued by saying that an extra three services will be on offer in the morning and afternoon to cater to the peak demand.
Brad Battin, the local member for Gembrook, predicted that the number of commuters would grow, given the convenience of public transport so close to home.
