The trends, features
and suburbs defining
luxury in 2026

Since 1973, Tony has been farming in Gingin, transitioning from Merino sheep to Silverstream Wines, where he practices biological viticulture without herbicides or pesticides. Certified as a Carbon Farmer in April 2023, his philosophy centers on soil health and sustainability.

"Nature's ability to sustain us relies on micro-organisms," he explains. "We don't use chemicals at the vineyard, and I've applied the same respect for natural systems here. I installed a compost bin for the leaf litter, you work with nature, not against it."

The Peppermint Grove home itself embraces Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired horizontal design with timber-lined eaves and full integration with its garden setting. Built in approximately 1963, it features open-plan family living with a modern stone kitchen, separate dining room with log fireplace, and a massive master retreat with garden-facing windows and luxurious ensuite.

"The way the house opens to the gardens is crucial," Tony said. "You're never disconnected from the outdoors. That north-facing courtyard gets beautiful morning light – it's perfect for quiet contemplation."

Multiple living zones include a separate lounge with split-system air-conditioning, while all bedrooms face north with full-height windows. The huge side deck and entertaining patio provide "delightfully shaded" outdoor living year-round.

The Ruse family lived in the house for 15 months while they were renovating and it has been a rental ever, popular with families with children in the local schools with a 100 per cent rental history.

"These established trees have taken decades to develop," he said. "You can renovate a house in months, but you can't quickly create these trees. This property offers something you simply cannot create quickly."

Jody Fewster said the home is located within walking distance to PLC (500m), Cottesloe Primary (800m), the beach, and train station. The property occupies one of Perth's most prestigious enclaves.

"It's a village atmosphere, not just another suburban street," Jody said. "Plus St Hilda's and North Cottesloe Primary are at your fingertips, it’s ideal for families."

For this certified carbon farmer and biological viticulture advocate, 115 Forrest Street represents the same values that guide his winemaking: authenticity, patience, and respect for natural systems.

"Just as a great wine starts with quality soil, a great life starts with a quality foundation," Tony reflects. "This property provides that foundation – it's where beauty, privacy and family living flourish in harmony."
