The Green Paper outline for a new planning framework for New South Wales has been welcomed by the Urban Taskforce.
With the objective of reforming the state's planning system to make it more straightforward, efficient and transparent, the initiative has been endorsed as a targeted system that will set the stage for growth in the coming years.
"The Urban Taskforce listed 10 key ideas for a better planning system in our submission to the planning review, and the government's Green Paper delivers on every one of these", said Urban Taskforce chief executive officer Chris Johnson on July 15.
"The focus on growth is particularly important through Regional Growth Plans, Growth Infrastructure Plans and the previously announced Urbangrowth NSW to help drive appropriate development."
Mr Johnson congratulated the government and NSW planning minister Brad Hazzard "for the clarity and appropriateness of the 23 key proposals".
The Property Council of Australia also recently announced its approval for the proposal, stating that it would lead to more property investment.
It feels that clear rules and guidelines for those associated with property development are necessary for growth.
