The opening of a new leisure facility in Victoria may be of interest to homebuyers in the state.
Planning minister Matthew Guy was at the grand launch of the $53 million WaterMarc Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Greensborough yesterday (September 9).
Mr Guy said:"These landmark projects aim to provide high quality community facilities to encourage residents to be more active, more often for many years to come.
"Projects like this are at the core of thriving activities areas by promoting improved pedestrian access to civic facilities, community services, retail, recreation and entertainment uses."
Prospective homebuyers looking to live in close proximity to an active community may be enticed by what the centre has to offer.
The recreational complex has five heated pools ideal for a range of water activities including swimming classes, lap swimming and water therapy for older people.
In addition to these activities, there is space allocated for water slides, exercise studios, a cafe and a childcare centre.
This initiative aims to create healthy and active communities by developing public facilities and spaces, he commented.
Mr Guy acknowledged the Banyule City Council contribution of $41 million, the federal government's $5 million endowment and the state government's donation of $6.5 million to aquatic centre.
The new centre is part of the Greensborough revitalisation project worth $55 million dollars.
