(The winning bidders from Ray White Ferntree Gully’s auction at 3 Gravenstein Crescent, The Basin.)THE move to private auctions this week proved not to daunt eager buyers in Melbourne who continued to show up in force, ready to bid on their dream home.

Last night saw Ray White Ferntree Gully adapt to the new private auction regulations with great success. The office sold two for two at 3 Gravenstein Crescent, The Basin and 1 Murdoch Court, Ferntree Gully.

Throughout the auctions only registered bidders were permitted and the office ensured the 1.5m distancing rule was enforced along with further measures such as hand sanitiser and masks.

Selling agent Ben Thomas said the auction at 3 Gravenstein Crescent was competitive and sold $10,000 over reserve.

“Overall it was a good auction campaign with 55 groups through inspections, a few people dropped off but we had most there who we expected and two of the four registered bidders participated,” Mr Thomas said.

“In the end the successful buyers were a young couple from the area.”

Held as a private in-room auction, selling agent fellow Ferntree Gully agent Thinh Cu said 1 Murdoch Court also sold well above vendor expectations.

“The auction was well attended and the house sold well which was to be expected after a solid campaign with 35 groups that ended with five registered bidders at the auction,” Mr Cu said.

“We are well placed for the new regulations and are not worried as we are still seeing plenty of genuine bidders and interest in the properties.”

The Ray White Ferntree Gully office will also have another nine private auctions tonight including 95 Pia Drive, Rowville and 4 Thomson St, Rowville that have had strong interest from buyers. Also being auctioned are:

“There was a lot of competition at the auction, two bidders were fiercely battling it out. In the end a very eager investor was successful,” Mr Ilyin said.

“To keep the mood light I even yelled out that it’s such a fantastic house that I can see myself being quarantined here for 14 days.”

The agent, who also called the auction, said Ray White Brunswick is more than ready for the virtual switch over with digital platforms already in place for both auctions and inspections.

Following on from last night, Ray White offices across Melbourne will host their last on-site private auctions for the foreseeable future. Ray White Croydon is gearing up for six auctions at:
