(Ray White Chelsea elite sales agent Wendy Smith sales consultant Bethany Cox greets buyers with jazz hands instead of a handshake.)AT Ray White, we are contact conscious and our auctions and open homes have looked a bit different in the wake of stricter hygiene standards.

Ray White agents and auctioneers are now using disposable paddles, hand sanitiser and swapping handshakes for jazz hands.

But, one thing that hasn’t changed is the continued strengthening of Australia’s auction numbers.

Ray White auction numbers are still on the rise this week with 319 scheduled for this week which is up 32.2 per cent from last year.

Last week, average crowd attendance was recorded at 32.9 people and 3.6 average bidders at Ray White auctions - both significant increases compared to this time last year. The numbers show that it takes a lot more to shake the confidence of Australian property buyers.

Victoria is looking forward to a massive week with 145 homes going under the hammer. The stand out property this week is 1/44 Barkly St, Ringwood being sold by Ray White Ringwood director and auctioneer Chris Watson.

“We’ve had just under 90 groups through the property - mainly first home buyers and a few downsizers and investors,” Mr Watson said.

The three bedroom family home has a price guide of $650,000 to $700,000 and the auction will be called by Mr Watson himself.

In the high-end Melbourne suburb of Doncaster, Ray White Manningham senior sales agent Milan Kinda has seen a lot of interest on 42 Burgundy Drive (pictured above) which has a price guide of $2.2 to $2.4 million. Mr Kinda said interest has been coming from both overseas and local buyers including several groups looking to downsize from acreage.

Ray White Cheltenham director Kevin Chokshi is selling the five bedroom 16 Eden St in Cheltenham this Saturday and said despite all the public panic last week he’s still seeing a huge amount of interest in the property.

“There has been 137 groups through so far despite all the virus headaches this week. Last Saturday we had 17 groups alone through the property,” Mr Chokshi said.

“They’ve mainly been families - it’s in a great area of Cheltenham, within the Beaumaris Secondary College catchment area.

“One of the great things about the house is that it’s really quirky, the seller’s favourite colour is red so there are a few splashes of red around the house."

Our New South Wales agents have 110 scheduled this Saturday. Confidence is high across the state including at 20 Binney St, Caringbah South which is being sold through Ray White Caringbah principal Wendy Samrani who has already given out 20 contracts.

“There’s been huge demand for the property and I’m confident it will sell really well,” Ms Samrani said.

“The house has been with the same family for ages but now they are selling there’s been a lot of interest because it’s on a popular street in an area that’s tightly held and has great potential.

“At the moment it’s got dual occupancy but it’s been very attractive to developers and young families who want to build something new on the land. Families are looking to build their dream home while developers are able to knock it down and put two homes on the spot.”

Australia’s sunshine state, Queensland is set to have 47 auctions this weekend. In Chermside West sales agent Matt Morgan of Ray White Aspley is selling a four bedroom brick home at 5 Birra St that has seen strong interest from local buyers. Mr Morgan said the area is popular because of the house’s proximity to the local hospital and Westfield Chermside Shopping Centre.

“To date we’ve had about 29 visitors, mostly families but also some investors. We haven’t seen a slow down of people coming through and aren’t anticipating it,” Mr Morgan said.

“Chermside West is a really family orientated area making it very sought after - especially for buyers wanting to live nearby Craigslea State High School.”

In South Australia, Ray White Norwood is going from strength to strength with another week of great homes up for auction. The office’s sales executive Brandon Pilgrim said they are estimating anywhere between five to ten registered bidders at 14 Hill St, Burnside.

“Buyers are really interested in the land, some of them are planning to rent the property out for a short time but most of them are looking to put a new home on it,” Mr Pilgrim said.

“They’re after the area which is in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide - Burnside is a really nice area and very renowned.”

In the trendy Adelaide suburb of Woodville, Ray White Norwood sales executive Ryan Stapleton is expecting a great auction from the 1908 built 66 Bower St character home. Mr Stapleton said the main interest he’s seeing is coming from younger couples and families.

“We’ve had 36 groups through and I think the younger demographic interest we’ve had is because Woodville is starting to become a bit of a trendy suburb. The property also has a pool, entertainment area, close to the train and has good access to the city,” Mr Stapleton said.
