The striking four-bedroom, three-bathroom manor at 34 Dalkeith Road, Nedlands has captivated neighbours and passersby alike for generations.

The property is being marketed by Ray White Cottesloe | Mosman Park agent Pauline Fermani, and is set to go under the hammer on 7 March.

With its twin towers, soaring proportions and richly characterful interiors, the property defies the typical suburban brief and now, after 48 years of private ownership, it is ready to welcome its next chapter.

Dr Patricia Nicholas has made the decision to sell her much-loved home after she was drawn initially by its proximity to nearby medical facilities.

Dr Nicholas said what began as a practical choice became a lifelong love affair with the home's extraordinary character and scale.

“The front living area with its beautiful bay windows has always been my favourite room,” she said.

“This house has a presence that's very hard to describe, it stops people in the street.”

The home has hosted decades of family life and celebration.

Dr Nicholas’ mother had her own connection to the property long before it was purchased - as a young woman, she attended the dances and parties hosted by its original owner, a professor, who used the grand reception spaces exactly as they were intended.

In her student days, Dr Nicholas rented out two rooms to help cover living expenses.

Today, those same rooms form part of a seamlessly connected family residence, refreshed and renovated for contemporary living, she said.

The home offers a choice of master bedroom suites, with the main retreat featuring a renovated ensuite, walk-in wardrobe with custom timber storage and a skylit bathroom with heat lamps.

A second suite features garden views and a loft-style walk-in robe via a wooden ladder.

Upstairs, a third bedroom with a corner pot-belly fireplace and ensuite opens to a covered rear balcony, while the ultimate 'teen wing' - a fourth bedroom or hangout space complete with built-in study desks and tree-lined sunset views.

Dr Nicholas has made considerable improvements to her home, adding an extension and undertaking a full renovation of the kitchen and all three bathrooms within the past two years.

“It’s a home that retains every ounce of its original architectural drama while delivering the comforts and finishes,” she said..

“And come summer, the home's elevated position offers a front-row seat to the Claremont Showgrounds fireworks - the kind of detail that reminds you this is no ordinary home.”
