BEHIND its classically elegant art deco exterior, this Brisbane home in the heart of blue chip Ascot at 68 Kitchener Rd has been completely rebuilt from top to bottom with inspiration drawn from some of the world best five star hotels.
With its interiors styled in a nod to iconic fashion designer Ralph Lauren, the timeless five bedroom home showcases Hollywood glamour with its showstopper crystal chandelier in the foyer, equestrian beauty, stitched leathers and a rich navy and white palette.
Ray White New Farm Principal Matt Lancashire said the owners spared no expense on the budget of the property’s extensive detailed renovation to create this classic American property on a 1,695sq m corner block in Ascot.
“Extraordinary design detail and craftsmanship went into this property, using only the finest quality international materials. The well travelled owners have fashioned a high-end aspirational lifestyle experience, the epitome of luxury living with a natural elegance and faultless style.”
Homeowners Eric and Sarina Lau, who own one of Brisbane’s best and most stylish restaurants Bacchus at South Bank, famously bought LA luxe style to the river city when they opened their hot venue in 2012.
The Laus bought their Ascot home at auction in 2013 after they fell in love with its soaring high ceilings, solid structure and great location.
“We were actually well advanced on the DA for another block to build but we fell in love with this house and bought it in the auction, so we decided to renovate instead and it was a big job but we are very pleased with how it turned out,” the pair said.
The Laus completely reconfigured the design of their house to create two distinct wings, plus added a heated MagnaPool and Steven Clegg Design landscaping.
“We wanted the house to feel like a high end hotel,” said the Laus, who were involved in every single immaculate detail of the designer house.
“It’s like your own private oasis here.”
The grand estate, which would not be out of place from Toorak to Beverly Hills, is blessed with a lot of light thanks to its high ceilings and French windows.
There’s a classic elegant feel to the light and cool home which is a very practical home too with a big family room and swimming pool area.
The house goes to auction on December 5 at 930am at The Calile Hotel in New Farm when Ray White New Farm will be selling some of Brisbane’s best luxury homes for sale.
The Lau family won’t be moving too as they’re looking for their next project in the same area. High on their wish list is room for a Championship sized tennis court, a 25m pool and even a library for their young son.
