A piece of Kiama’s history hits the market in August with the landmark “Bellevue” building, built in the late 1800s, being marketed for auction through Ray White Kiama.

Built from locally mined bluestone, “Bellevue” operates as tourist accommodation but could also be owner-occupied as a luxury family home, rented out or converted into professional suites.

The building was completely renovated in 2000 and comprises six individual contemporary apartments and currently operates as holiday accommodation. It was transformed into a guest-type accommodation in the early 1930s and remained that way until the current owners purchased the building. It maintains the original staircase and fireplaces.

Sitting on a 900m2 corner block, it’s located at Kiama's gateway near the centre of town and has harbour views.

“All the units are one bedroom with lounge and dining areas, and two apartments have spas,” marketing agent Sharon Ford says, “All open out onto the wrap around verandah. Each unit has a car space. There’s also an office, laundry room and supply room.”

The property last traded for $500,000 in 2000.

“Possibilities here are endless; the owner can choose to keep operating the six serviced luxury apartments or move in yourself. The property would make an ideal large family home. An investor might consider strata titling the six apartments into one bedroom units or converting the apartments into professional suites and rent the space out as office space,” Sharon concluded.
