Daniel Kelly’s, 31, entry into real estate is an example of successful succession planning. His dad Jim brought him into the family business Ray White Yamba, in a town of only 6,000 people in New South Wales’ picturesque north coast, when he was 18. Dan reached Premier status a few years later, and become a co-owner in his mid-twenties. Since then, he has attained Alan White Elite status on multiple occasions and in the last two years has ranked in the top ten regional principals in the state. But, as a child he thought he was destined for the fairway not the auction floor.

Five quick questions with Daniel Kelly

  1. Goal for next year? I haven’t reached Chairman’s Elite yet!
  2. What’s something you actively have to stop yourself from doing? Swearing so much in the office.
  3. What’s the most unusual property you have sold/listed? A house that had been half burnt down. That one was a challenge!
  4. Age you started in the industry and age now? 18 (don’t ask for my first photo!) now I’m 31, but enough grey hair to be 71.
  5. Tell me something that’s not so well known about you... I have a big weakness when it comes to cars, suits and watches. I do have an inner rev-head.
