The two bedroom, ground floor apartment, at 1/189 Liverpool Road in Enfield has a price guide above $450,000. It was inherited by 92-year-old Mary Ingall. Mary’s mother purchased the apartment in 1965, after purchasing a unit in the same building upstairs and not being happy with it - so she purchased the ground fall unit.
According to selling agent Chris Wilkins, it feels like Mary's mother just walked out of the apartment. “It’s a really old apartment in original condition in every way.”
Mary has never actually lived in the apartment, and it has sat vacant since 1992, aside from the occasional family guest from out of town.
“The apartment is still dear to me as it still provides me with fond memories of my mother,” she said. “I would love to see it go to someone who loves the apartment as much as my mother did.”
The NSW government is currently reforming NSW Strata and community title laws for the first time since the Strata Titles Act was created in 1973 - to bring them up to speed with the 21st century.
“It’s the first strata building ever, and a unique piece of history for the future owner,” said Chris, adding that the building itself has been a key landmark in the local community.
“Interestingly, the building this apartment is a part of is often used by State & Federal members of parliament for photography as part of political statements , and it’s a well known building that has made regular appearances throughout its history,” he said.
