Sometimes life is like that.

Sometimes we don't know what people are waiting for.

But this Henley home in the waterside suburb in Sydney just sold for $2.945 million at auction after sitting empty since 1967.

The vendor is aged 88 and he lives in Mudgee, in regional NSW.

His mum won the house in a Catholic in a Catholic Church Lottery with a ticket that cost two shillings.

It's sat empty for 53 years ago.

It’s all original, even the oven is basically new and has never been used.

Ray White Gladesville Sales Executive Joseph Mazar said it’s like a time capsule.

"This house is very rare, it’s one in a million. Feedback during the campaign was up to $2.5 million, so it’s an incredible result. I am very proud.”
