The six-bedroom Kenmore Hills property at 39 Tinarra Crescent is being marketed by Ray White Chapel Hill agent Lisette Schults-Rand and is set to go under the hammer on February 7.

The expansive property features one hectare of land dedicated to wildlife conservation with the house sitting high beside the road.

At 88 years of age, Martin Lack said the decision to sell wasn't made lightly.

“You've got to downsize while you've got the physical ability to do it,” Mr Lack said.

“With their son living in Rockhampton and grandchildren on the way, the couple are ready for their next chapter.”

Mr Lack said after discovering this parcel of vacant land, he and his wife took the leap, building their dream home while living in Bardon and transforming it into a luxurious residence.

“It’s a nature-wrapped sanctuary,” Mr Lack said.

“The street itself became part of the appeal, fostering a unique community spirit.”

Mr Lack said his winter ritual involved walking the 10-hectares surrounding the property, carefully managing native weeds to preserve the natural environment.

He said they deliberately designed a single-storey home, anticipating future accessibility needs.

In 1988, when they started their IT business, they added a granny flat where staff could work.

The street was among the first to receive fibre-to-the-home NBN connectivity.

The home features a wine cellar with Besser block and brick construction providing natural temperature control that means air conditioning is rarely needed.

There is a swimming pool, and the outdoor entertaining area at the back of the house has a front-row seat to the surrounding native forest.

Mr Lack said the heart of their home was the family room.

In 2000, coinciding with the Sydney Olympics, they installed a wide screen and projector, transforming evening dinners into a cinematic experience.

But it's the memories of hosting Melbourne Cup gatherings that stand out most vividly, with staff and friends gathering before the big screen to share in the excitement of the race that stops the nation.

“It's a wonderful place to live,” Mr Lack said.

“There’s no traffic driving past the house, it’s 100 metres from neighbours, and very convenient.”

The home was ideal for raising their son, who was just three when they moved in, with numerous schools nearby making it perfect for growing families.

Mr Lack said the property would suit another family, or a couple with children who love the outdoors.
