Of those 514 auctions expected to go under the hammer, 267 were booked in for the Saturday including a Double Bay c1883 residence listed by Ray White Double Bay’s Kim Hayes, which was the network’s top auction result of the week at $2,005,000.
Overall attendance at Ray White auctions last week was 17,316, with an average crowd size of 43.3.
Around 30 people gathered on Saturday morning to watch a marathon Brisbane auction battle between two bidders, which resulted in a sale under the hammer of $1,090,000 for Ray White Ashgrove’s Tamara Lee.
The Queenslander at 17 Ballina St, Kelvin Grove falls in the popular Kelvin Grove State College catchment zone.
“We had five registered bidders, with two that really ended up playing tug of war,” Ms Lee said told The Courier-Mail.
“It exceeded the owner's expectations, and was well and truly over reserve, which is a great outcome.”
The call by Ray White auctioneer Phil Parker was broadcast live across the nation on Sky News Real Estate, as was Ms Lee’s auction preview interview with the show’s hosts.
Ms Lee was also interviewed for a Channel 9 story airing that evening on Queenslanders warming to auctions, which featured great vision of Ray White’s branding.
Meantime in Melbourne, The Herald Sun covered the auction of an unrenovated East Geelong property, managed by Ray White Geelong’s Laurie McGovan.
The three-bedroom, one-bathroom weatherboard home at 177 Garden St sold for $637,000.

On Sunday, more than $14 million worth of property sold at Ray White Coastal Living Network’s huge auction event on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The network of eight offices (Ray White Noosa, Ray White Noosa River, Ray White Maroochydore, Ray White Buderim, Ray White Mooloolaba, Ray White Kawana, Ray White Sippy Downs and Ray White Nambour) and 80 agents teamed up to take 65 houses, apartments and vacant land to auction at Mercedes Benz Sunshine Coast.
“We’re delighted with the outcome,” Ray White Mooloolaba| Kawana director James Goldsworthy said.
“We know across the offices that there’s still a lot of negotiating happening and we’re expecting those sales to continue across this week.”
