AS the market starts to wake up after the long, hot summer break the leading auction group, Ray White Group, has 346 auctions scheduled this week and 131 on Saturday alone, which is pretty amazing for this time of year.

Our members are all reporting big numbers through opens for inspections with buyers out and looking to buy.

In Sydney, the trend of late last year appears to have continued where many auctions have already sold prior to the scheduled auction date as buyers make early offers to secure their dream home or investment.

In Adelaide, former South Australian premier, Jay Weatherill’s 1910s villa is up for auction this Saturday with Ray White Port Adelaide principal Nick Psarros, confident the beautifully renovated three bedroom home at 81 Queen St, Alberton will sell.

“We’re getting big numbers through the property with about 50 groups going through over the weekend,” the elite agent said.

Mr Psarros said the property had been beautifully renovated by the Weatherill family, which included a new kitchen servitory, restored fireplaces, polished timber floors and high ceilings throughout the home.

“The property - in the heart of Alberton - has a beautiful character and Mr Weatherill’s renovations have only enhanced the character,” he said.

“The renovations mean that the house still has that heritage feel but with all the modern conveniences you need including heating, cooling, a dishwasher and renovated bathroom.”

The vendors have chosen not to release a price guide to the market.

Mr Weatherill will not be onsite for comment.

In Victoria a two bedroom property at 9/315 Nepean Highway, Parkdale is set to go under the hammer on Saturday. Ray White Cheltenham director, Kevin Chokshi, said they’ve seen strong interest with 176 groups going through the property since mid-January.

“We’ve had quite a bit of interest and due to the great price point we’re expecting strong bidding from a combination of young couples, first time buyers and downsizers,” he said.

First time home buyers and upsizing families in New South Wales are in luck with a four bedroom property at 9 Franklin Place, Bossley Park property going to auction this Saturday.

“We’ve had 88 families come through in three weeks with the majority being second home buyers looking to upsize as well as first time home buyers,” Ray White Wetherill Park sales executive, Mathew Bell said.

“The house, which is perfect for families, is still in original condition and lovingly looked after by the original owners who have been there since 1985.

“The owners raised three children in the house and are really hoping to find a new family to pass it on to.”

Also in New South Wales, Ray White Gladesville sales executive, Barrie Brown, is hoping for a great outcome this weekend for the 7 Ian St, North Ryde property going to auction on Saturday.

“There has been a cross section of potential buyers inspecting the property with some thinking about renovating and others looking for the perfect block to build on,” he said.

“For those looking to build, the property is on a level block with a north-facing backyard, cul-de-sac position and no easements.”

A newly renovated Queensland property at 37 Myra St, Kingston is on the market for only the second time in its 33 year history. Ray White Logan City sales executive, Murat Kutbay, said the home is a great first time buy for a young family.

“Being what it is, this property is a special home for Kingston as the space makes it great as a family home,” he said.

“It’s the way it's renovated and the great price point that really stands out for young couples looking to get into the property market.”

Mr Kutbay said that he’s quietly confident that the property will sell this weekend after the significant interest he’s seen from potential buyers.

“I’ve got five people so far who are interested so it’s looking good for this weekend,” he said.

“At every open home we’ve had an average of two buyers, mostly families, inspecting the property which is great for the Kingston marketplace.”
