Simon Hayes knows all about family real estate businesses.

His father Noel Hayes started his own agency Noel Hayes Real Estate at Woodford in the Blue Mountains in 1970.

Simon Hayes joined his father’s business and it operated at Woodford, 90km west of Sydney, until 2013 when the agency was closed while roadworks were carried out on the Great Western Highway, which runs through the village.

When the roadworks were completed, Simon reopened the business but he decided to do so under the banner of a famous family real estate name, Ray White, and establish Ray White Woodford.

“I decided to join forces with Ray White as it’s a great name in real estate and among the many things I like about the group is its data retention program,” Simon says.

“It’s been good to be part of the Ray White Group and it makes us very competitive with the other franchises in the area.”

Simon said the local real estate market is currently “hot” and securing listings is highly competitive.

“We have had some tremendous results this year and properties are not staying on the market for very long,” Simon says.

“Our office staff comprises the administrator Peta Drake and myself. We cover a wide area in towns including Linden, Woodford, Hazelbrook, Lawson and Bullaburra.”

Woodford is an historic town established in the mid-19th century went it was originally known as Twenty Mile Hollow. Sydney businessman Alfred Fairfax converted a former inn into his private home and renamed it Woodford House. The railway station adopted the name Woodford in 1871.

The Ray White Woodford office is located at 56 Great Western Highway, Woodford.
