Sunshine Coast’s mega auctions

Any talk of banks limiting borrowings doesn’t seem to be dampening the Sunshine Coast’s appetite for property with 50 different properties going under the hammer over the next two weekends.

Agents, auctioneers and buyers will travel the length of the Sunshine Coast with over 50 properties on offer from land at Mooloolaba, apartments in Maroochydore, acreage at Diddillibah and trophies homes in Noosa to choose from.

Ray What Group chairman Brian White said the appeal of the Sunshine Coast was timeless and it was showcased so perfectly over the Easter long weekend with the outstanding weather.

“The Sunshine Coast has it all, affordability and liveability. The affordability is staggering on the Sunshine Coast,” Mr White said.

“There is such a great selection of property on offer at these Sunshine Coast auctions.”

Ray White Buderim principal Brett Graham said there had never been a better time to buy on the Sunshine Coast.

“As the interstate property markets start to come off the boil it’s the Sunshine Coast’s turn to shine,” Mr Graham said.

“Sellers from down south make the traditional move to our area for a change in lifestyle and investors looking for better returns are seeing the coast as a relevant option.”

Ray White Maroochydore agent Jason Mills is taking 1 Haas St, Bli Bli to auction this Saturday for owner Tim Moncur.

“Locals refer to this property as the Bli Bli Mansion. It’s as if the town was built around the home and its extraordinary how so much land can be available so close to town and still remain private,” Mr Mills said.

“With the new Bli Bli retail development rapidly taking shape and expected to complete in 2017, this property would not only represent a clever strategic buy, it represents an amazing opportunity for an envious lifestyle.

“New schools, a new golf course, more shopping and even a new Tavern are only some of the reasons Bli Bli is often referred to as, really going ahead. Maroochydore and North Shore beaches and shops being only a short drive away, you can really enjoy all that the Sunshine Coast lifestyle has to offer.”

Mr Mills said there was something for every buyer at this big event, with 50 properties on offer on-site, over two weekends.

“We’ve had good interest in this one, with many large families looking at it. It is a lifestyle block, it’s got a lake and its own private helipad. I’ve also got developers keen on the 25,000sq m on offer too,” he said.

“I’ve had over 40 groups through, some are locals who have just been dying to have a look at it but we have also had good interest from WA and even as far as Canada, an expat looking to love home once he sells his business over there.”

Owner Tim Moncur said bought the property off developer Peter Shadforth in 2002.

“Bli Bli is the centre of the Sunshine Coast. It’s so good that they named it twice. It’s a big beautiful home. We raised our four daughters here,” Mr Moncur said.

“It would suit someone with a big family, or who wants a duel living house. It’s only five minutes to the coast from here, and it’s out of the hustle and bustle.

“I saw the property online when I was living in Victoria. I saw it and came up on a Friday, and bought it that same day.”

Mr Moncur won’t be moving too far, he’s downsizing to a smaller farm nearby.
