Southern Highlands retreat under the stars
IF there exists an award for the friendliest community in New South Wales, Ashley Jones believes Tudor Estate would be outright favourite to receive the honour.
Ms Jones does not want to sell her gorgeous Moss Vale hideaway in the Southern Highlands but personal circumstances have given her little choice.
“I love the Highlands community,” Ms Jones said.
“The people are supportive, welcoming and it’s an old-fashioned feel. like everything about the area and I’m very sad to sell.”
Her lowset sanctuary, on 4000sq m park-like grounds at 3 Nari Circuit, Moss Vale has been beautifully renovated without compromising existing character.
“It was a total overhaul,” Ms Jones said.
“There’s a brand new kitchen, which I really love, and the house itself is open-plan with a lovely setup for entertaining.
“The ventilation is great too as you open up the windows and a lovely breeze comes from the backyard up through the house.”
There are two decks, one at the side and the other at the rear of the house.
“At night, we used to get a blanket and lie out there and look at the shooting stars,” Ms Jones said.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home also has a formal lounge, sunroom, two gas fireplaces, large picture windows, timber floorboards, a double carport and an adjoining workshop.
Ms Jones said the buyers will essentially be moving into a new house.
“I’ve never used things like the bath or oven, it’s all rewired, there’s new plumbing, a new hot water system, it’s all basically untouched,” she said.
“It’s the character of the old house but everything is new.”
Peaceful and quiet, the location will never lose its appeal as a neighbouring farm is heritage protected.
“It’s a good tree change but the house is only 40 minutes to the coast so it’s a sea change too,” Ms Jones said.
“Turn left and you’re in town, turn right and you’re in the country where there are vineyards and it’s just beautiful.”
Moss Vale is only 100 minutes’ drive southwest from Sydney and under two hours from Canberra.
Ray White Mittagong marketing agent Nathan Gair said the majority of interest in the property is from Sydney families and downsizers.
Mr Gair has listed 3 Nari Circuit, Moss Vale for sale with a price guide of $1.025 million.
