Rare acreage up for grabs in the Shire offers immense opportunity

A rareacreage property in the heart of Illawong has come to market for the first time since the home was built 13 years ago by current owner with Ray White Menai and Sutherland Principal Matt Debreczeni.

Featuring a full-sized tennis court, BMX trails and access walking trails, the five bedroom home at 7 Tabard Avenue, Illawong is well known by locals, according to Karena.

“People would recognise the house, because it backs onto a fire trail and people would remember my daughter’s old grey horse in the backyard, Mystique,” she said.

The Harris’ built the house in 2003, and the design of the home featured heavily around their children, and a heavy focus on entertaining. But, for Karena, the most important part of the build was to provide ease of living.

“The bathrooms are all big enough that we didn’t need to install shower screens, and the big dining room area is all tiled, the hallways are timber, it was all about minimizing the amount of work and maintenance required,” she said.

The home has also seen a lot of memories formed by not only the entire Harris family, but also their neighbours and friends. “We are big entertainers, it’s the house that people come to for Australia Day, and birthday parties, we set up a marquee on the tennis court.”

And that tennis court has proved to be versatile, with her children and the local kids using it to ride skateboards, play basketball, cricket along with an array of other uses.

“Lot’s of kids from the street congregate to our house, It’s the gathering place,” said Karena.

And, she says that is what she will miss the most. “I will miss the neighbours, we truly have great neighbours all around. We’ve always gathered here and all the kids and parents, we have dinner together, go on holidays together, it’s a great community.”

Ray White Menai and Sutherland Principal Matt Debreczeni describes the home as the ultimate family residence, “This home is an extremely rare offering for the Illawong area, there are not many others with a full sized tennis court and designed with a family lifestyle in mind, there is a virtually unlimited array of options for this 9,800 sqm block.”

Within walking distance to Menai high, a popular public school known for its agriculture team, according to Karena, Illawong is a great area for families.
