Noosa Nature Refuge for Sale

A substantial nature refuge located just 30 minutes from Noosa’s Hastings Street is being offered for sale by Ray White Noosa’s Alex Harris.

The privately held 152.7ha Dangerbridge Nature Refuge located at 189 Kildeys Road, Cootharaba, is priced at $1.8 million.

“Once cleared for timber and then cattle, its owner of 15 years, has invested in extensive new plantings, creek and boundary fencing and other infrastructure, transforming it into the wildlife haven it is today,” Ms Harris explains.

Found by the CSIRO to be home to an extensive list of birds, butterflies, wildlife and plant life, including threatened and endangered species, it is high value conservation land.

“The buyer could live on it, create a light day-trip or eco-tourism venture, or purchase the property to donate to a university or conservation group for ongoing research and conservation.

“There is also the potential for wildlife rehabilitation, and/or a Lone Pine style sanctuary, potentially inclusive of rescue and veterinary services, which is an unfilled need at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast.”

Ms Harris said the fully-fenced property includes a water license from Kin Kin Creek, approximately 12.2ha of agricultural zoning over an existing macadamia orchard to enable sustainable production to occur alongside nature conservation, 64.7ha of open paddock that could be planted out, used as a solar farm or other conservation purposes, and an impressive eight bay shed with office and bathroom.

She said the property was classified as State significant for Endangered, Vulnerable and near threatened species under Biodiversity mapping.

Ms Harris said the beautiful property also had the potential to serve as a high value offset for development or mining activities elsewhere.  An Information Memorandum outlining obligations and opportunities under the Conservation Agreement is available.
