Originally completing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Marketing, Mike started as an investor buying property in the northern suburbs where he lived and grew up. Their typical motive is to forcefully drive prospective customers into making a rational decision, commonly not in the customers' best interest. There is a lot to be said about my initial introduction to Mr Lao from a purchasers view point. In the early months of 2012, I was avidly seeking a potential site for property development. As like most educated buyers nowadays, I had completed extensive research and data analysis to help with my decision making. Mr Lao had listed a property in Smithfield that was quite appealing to me, so I contacted him to arrange a time to view the property. In a timely manner he had coordinated a suitable time for both of us and the long term tenant.

Part 2 of 5 (Peterson) When meeting Mr Lao for the first time I could immediately sense his professionalism and respectful nature. Allowing me to walk through the property in my own time and answering my questions from an un-biased position confirmed my initial judgment. It was through discussion with Mr Lao about my reasons for wanting to purchase the property, his knowledge of the property he was selling and his willingness to satisfy me that I made the correct decision not to put forward an offer. How often in life does a real estate agent actually educate you out of making a wrong decision? Mr Lao has enough experience to know that customers will always analyse their decision at some stage, and should it be contradictory to advice/information they had received, 'word of mouth' will always affect the agents and company's reputation. I eventually purchased a property to develop in mid 2012, but unfortunately the site wasn't a listed property of Mr Lao. The property was listed by another company and agent, to which I had no end of grief, harassment and illegal contractual pressure. The entire purchasing process was a nightmare fuelled by my description of the 'typical sales personnel' above. What these real estate agents had failed to understand was the concept of 'repeat business'!

I was completely confident with Mike during final negotiations and took his advice on so many occassions. He even acted as my broker for the purchase of my new home. He researched the properties and suggested appropriate prices ranges. He even made the negotiations on my behalf. Both real estate agents that he spoke to were very impressed with him.


Part 2 of 4 (Delia) During the time our home was on the market Mike kept me informed every step of the way as to what was happening. He provided me with regular updates after each open inspection and after his follow-up phone calls. I never had to chase him up to find out what was happening. Mike never wasted our time with unrealistic offers but when he did have an offer to present, he did so making sure we thought of all aspects (both positive and negative) of each offer. Most of our offers were subject to sale so Mike investigated the realistic chances of their own sales and reported this information for our consideration when deciding whether or not to accept the offer. I had complete trust in Mike and his opinion.


Part 1 of 4 (Delia) After meeting with a few real estate agents, my ex-husband and I decided to go through Mike Lao for the sale of our family home. He was referred to us by my sister and her husband. They spoke extremely highly of Mike after their dealings with him when they purchased their first home.
