Current owner, Nancy Coffey has lived next door to ‘Figtree’ for the last 12 years. When the opportunity to purchase the adjoining property came up, Nancy said she snapped it up.
“The two properties are identical and we love our home so much that when next door went up for sale four years ago, we decided buy it,” she said.
The new owners then took 18 months to renovate the property, adding a level to the original two-storey home and transforming the outdoor living areas, with the rooftop terrace taking advantage of uninterrupted harbour views.
“There are now three outdoor terraces that are all designed to connect with the natural surrounds. Our favourite feature of the home are the views across the park and the harbour. You’d never guess you were in the middle of a City, it’s so quiet and peaceful,” Nancy explained.
Selling agent, Evan Williams of Ray White Double Bay said a property of this calibre rarely comes to market.
“Watsons Bay is one of the most tightly held suburbs in the eastern suburbs – once you move there, you never want to leave. Figtree is a rare opportunity to buy into this prestige market, and secure a prized pocket of land,” he said.
As the owners prepare to move to Byron Bay, Nancy said it was a tough decision to sell.
“We’re holding onto our original home next door, but have decided to sell Figtree because we’re moving north. We hope the new owners love it as much as we do.”
