Architect’s former private residence for sale

The former home of renowned Victorian architect, Phillip Mannerheim – designed and built as his personal residence – is going to auction.

The current owners of the acreage in Templestowe have extended and renovated the original residence to create an oriental inspired, feng shui home.

“The original home was designed and built by Phillip Mannerheim to live in. We’re the third owners of the home.

“When we purchased the property 11 years ago, acres weren’t ‘in vogue’ and we basically bought for the land value. We’ve more than doubled the internal size and created a really individual home, keeping in style with Phillip’s original vision.

“Although it wasn’t intentional the design of the home has really positive feng shui – it’s an oriental inspired home with a modern twist,” the current owner of the home explains.

The property at 4 Winifred Court, Templestowe sits on one acre of land with landscaped gardens, an award-winning pool and tennis court.

“The property has a very earthy, tranquil feeling to it,” Carmen Stenta, selling agent at Ray White Manningham explains.

“It’s like your own private retreat. So much love and care has gone into making this property a home – every room has a purpose and there isn’t a luxury that has been overlooked.”

With four bedrooms, a loft study, five bathrooms, a powder room, parking for five cars and a boat, a theatre room, games room an indoor water feature, three spas and two saunas, the house encapsulates luxury living.

“There are two master bedrooms with ensuites and built-in robes, which creates unrivalled privacy within the home,” Carmen said.

“Templestowe is an area that maximises lifestyle. This is country living with easy access to the City.”

For the owners, moving on will be emotional but they say the time is right.

“We’ve loved this home and poured our heart and soul into it. Now that the kids are older it’s time to downsize. We hope that someone else can enjoy it as much as we have as a family.

“We’re professional people and are making the move into the City – were trying our hand at apartment living. We’ll miss the gardens and the native birds and wildlife but we’re also excited to be starting a new chapter,” they said.

The property at 4 Winifred Court, Templestowe will go to auction on 9 August with price expectations in excess of $2.4m
