Thornleigh home a sporting haven
The only property in Thornleigh with a full sized championship tennis court is on the market with Ray White Thornleigh selling agent Natalie Mikhael.
The house has an internal floor area of 450sqm, and the land it sits on is 1897sqm with a large outdoor area to match including not only the tennis court but also a swimming pool.
Owners Lisa and David Andersen have enjoyed the property immensely and were pleasantly surprised, coming from a more secluded country area eight years ago.
“We love the proximity to the city,” said Lisa, “we initially had concerns about the potential noise, but we have been pleasantly surprised at how quiet Thornleigh is.”
“Thornleigh, Westleigh and Normanhurst simply do not have another home like this,” said selling agent Natalie Mikhael, “it’s more like something you’d find in Wahroonga and is a great option for families”.
As a family of keen tennis players the house has been a great place for her children growing up, with her daughter Vanessa the reason they bought the house.
“It’s a great space for kids, with the court doubling as a place for the kids to ride their scooters, play cricket, soccer and we even used to the court for netball training,” said Lisa.
Although sport is one of their biggest loves, the family have also enjoyed the kitchen, with Lisa dubbing them a ‘cooking family’ those who visit the home’s open for inspections will often find a lovely treat waiting for them inside.
“We really want people to enjoy the house, and feel welcome and at home, so there will always be something at the open house,” said Lisa.
Although it will be hard to let go of, Lisa and David have decided it’s time to downsize as their children move on.
“We no longer need the space,” she said adding that she and the family will miss living here.
For Lisa, whose parents live in the inner west, it’s time to be closer to them, and a move to nearby Ryde is on the cards.
“It will be nice to be closer to family, but still somewhere halfway to here.”
As for 17 Loch Maree Avenue, Lisa and the family hope the next owners will love and enjoy the property as much as they do.
“We’d love someone else to enjoy the home as much as we have, there is so much to offer a growing family,” said Lisa.
The property will go to auction onsite on Saturday October 10 at 3.30pm.
